Location: Santa Monica (on the pier). Type of food: Mexican
Food is okay here. Never get the taquitos in the appetizer section. Too small and not tasty for the money you pay... Price range: $8-20. Rating: 3 loaves
This is a list of restaurants my friends and I have eaten at over the years - most of them are located around the Los Angeles area but I've begun to post places in my new locale - New York (mostly Long Island and NYC areas as well as some places in Upstate New York). Some may not be the same anymore but some of them are, so take a chance and a risk. :) If you've been to some of these, feel free to add your own comments. Oh, and ratings are out of 5 loaves. :) Yum-yum! Let's eat!

Marmalade Cafe
Location: Farmer's Market in Los Angeles (Fairfax and 3rd Street). Type of food: Assorted
Food is pretty good and so is the service. Their sourdough bread rolls are really good. But, this is not a place for quiet conversation, although you can occasionally sight some celebrities. Price range: $10-25. Rating: 3.5 loaves

Marston's
Location: Pasadena, on Walnut Avenue. Type of food: Assorted.
This place is well known for their french toast (rolled in cornflakes). Sylvia likes their multi-grain pancakes. Be very hungry when you go there though! And be ready to wait...usually. Price range: $8-15. Rating: 4 loaves

The Melting Pot
Location: Several. Nearest one to us is Old Town Pasadena. Type of food: Fondues
This place is a bit pricey and you generally must have reservations unless you sit at the bar. The bar only provides salads, cheese fondues, and dessert fondues - no entrees. We sat at the bar cuz our decision to eat there was spontaneous. But it was yummy nonetheless. We had salad and dark chocolate fondue. Mmmmm! :) Price range: $7 - $30. Rating: 4 loaves.

Mi Piace
Location: Old Town Pasadena. Type of food: Italian
Food is good, service is good. What else can I say? :) Oh...try the coconut shrimp for appetizers. Price range: $9-20. Rating: 4.5 loaves

Mikoshi
Location: Glendale. This one is closed, but I believe there is one on Hoover and Adams...near USC. Type of food: Japanese
Good noodle/ramen place. They have all sorts of ramen and several styles of soba, including yakisoba. Yummy, when you're in the mood for ramen noodles and such. :) Price range: $4-8. Rating: 4 loaves

Mishima's
Location: Beverly Hills (near the Beverly Center on 3rd Street before La Cienega). Type of food: Japanese.
We love the tofu salad here! Other things can be good or bad, depending upon what you get so the risk is yours. ;) However, we strongly recommend the tofu salad. We have yet to find better elsewhere! Parking in the lot can be horrendous so be prepared to search for street parking. It can get pretty packed, so wait time can be considerably long. Please note that the rating of this restaurant is high due to our affinity for their tofu salad, and not for the whole menu. :) Price range: $7-15. Rating: 4 loaves

Miyagi's
Location: West Hollywood (on the Sunset Strip). Type of food: Japanese
Sushi is pretty good here; not the best, but good enough. Gets really crowded, but their 3-story building seems to be able to handle it well. Good service. Fun place to go. After 9 p.m. you get carded at the door as it gets louder and more crowded. All-you-can-eat-sushi night on Mondays runs till 11:30 p.m. for $18.99; pretty good. Price range: $10-$25. Rating: 4 loaves
