Location: Glendale. This one is closed, but I believe there is one on Hoover and Adams...near USC. Type of food: Japanese
Good noodle/ramen place. They have all sorts of ramen and several styles of soba, including yakisoba. Yummy, when you're in the mood for ramen noodles and such. :) Price range: $4-8. Rating: 4 loaves
This is a list of restaurants my friends and I have eaten at over the years - most of them are located around the Los Angeles area but I've begun to post places in my new locale - New York (mostly Long Island and NYC areas as well as some places in Upstate New York). Some may not be the same anymore but some of them are, so take a chance and a risk. :) If you've been to some of these, feel free to add your own comments. Oh, and ratings are out of 5 loaves. :) Yum-yum! Let's eat!

Mishima's
Location: Beverly Hills (near the Beverly Center on 3rd Street before La Cienega). Type of food: Japanese.
We love the tofu salad here! Other things can be good or bad, depending upon what you get so the risk is yours. ;) However, we strongly recommend the tofu salad. We have yet to find better elsewhere! Parking in the lot can be horrendous so be prepared to search for street parking. It can get pretty packed, so wait time can be considerably long. Please note that the rating of this restaurant is high due to our affinity for their tofu salad, and not for the whole menu. :) Price range: $7-15. Rating: 4 loaves

Miyagi's
Location: West Hollywood (on the Sunset Strip). Type of food: Japanese
Sushi is pretty good here; not the best, but good enough. Gets really crowded, but their 3-story building seems to be able to handle it well. Good service. Fun place to go. After 9 p.m. you get carded at the door as it gets louder and more crowded. All-you-can-eat-sushi night on Mondays runs till 11:30 p.m. for $18.99; pretty good. Price range: $10-$25. Rating: 4 loaves

Morel's
Location: The Grove (next to Farmer's Market on 3rd and Fairfax). Type of food: French/Steak
Dry-aged steak (I think that's what it's called...); well, it's aged, anyhow. Wonderful steak. Service is a little chi-chi, but I guess that's what you'd have to expect somewhere so fancy such as there. They have outdoor seating, but it's a good wait to sit outside. Price range: $20-40. Rating: 4.5 loaves

Natalee's
Location: West L.A. (Olympic and Fairfax). Type of food: Thai
Americanized version of Thai food. Don't go here if you want food that's more closer to authentic Thai. In fact, I don't think we'll ever go back here. Price range: $8-15. Rating: 1 loaf

One Pico at Shutters on the Beach
Location: Santa Monica. Type of food: Assorted
A wonderful, quiet, expensive place to eat right on the beach. Food is delicious and service is great, as one might expect. Romantic at night with a fireplace and dimmed lights. A good place to take someone on a special occasion if you're willing to fork over a little bit more from your pocketbook. :) Price range: $12-?. Rating: 4 loaves.

Porto's Bakery
Location: Glendale. Type of food: All sorts of baked goods, cakes, bread, and sandwiches.
The baked goods are soooooo delicious, but not loaded up with the sugar like some places tend to be. Prices are very reasonable too. The place opens at 7 a.m. and is always crowded, attesting to the great taste of things in the bakery. You can usually find us there Saturday mornings at 7:15, wondering what we should try. Price range: Varies depending upon baked goods, cakes, or sandwiches. Rating: 5 loaves

Rosalyn's
Location: Marina del Rey/Venice (on Lincoln Blvd.).
A small hole in the wall place. The food is pretty good; however, the service is extremely S...L...O...W... and not incredibly friendly. A good place to go if you want to have a L...O...N...G conversation over dinner with no interruptions. Don't go if you're starving! Price range: $6-10. Rating: 2.5 loaves

Shik Do Rak
Location: Los Angeles (Olympic and Hoover).
Type of food: Korean.
This place's specialty is something called "Dduk boh ssam". You grill your own meat and then place it on this thin slice of rice cake called "dduk", put some sauce on it, wrap it up, and eat it. Very yummy! Sylvia also likes this fish dish called "eun daegu johrim". It's broiled fish with spicy (and I mean SPICY!) sauce; the radish and the tofu are especially delicious in this dish because it has soaked up all the flavor of the sauce. Service is pretty good...for a Korean restaurant. Price range: $10-20. Rating: 5 loaves.

The Stinking Rose
Location: Los Angeles (La Cienega and 6th).
Type of food: Italian.
If you love garlic with a hint of Italian, then this is the place to go. For those who prefer Italian with a hint of garlic, this would probably not be your place to go. The food is alright, but the presence of garlic may be too overpowering for some. Love the decor! Price range: $10-20. Rating: 2.5 loaves.
